What’s that flashing?

It’s probably happened to everyone.  Hell, I have done it myself but this guy took it to a new level.  What am I talking about?

Repushing elevator buttons

This started off like any other wait for an elevator.  As I walk up to the elevator, I see a gentleman approaching me who obviously is going to use the elevators as well.  I reach out and push the UP button as he approaches and wait.  When he gets next to me, he reaches out and pushes the already pushed and BRIGHT green button again.  OK, not a big deal.  A lot of people do that when they come up, repush the button even though it’s lit and they witness someone push it.  Here’s the kicker.  The elevator arrives, I get in first, and seeing how 1) I was first to get in and 2) am wearing my badge which clearly shows I am employed for the company that owns the building, I politely ask him which floor and push the appropriate button.  From the other side of the car (2 control panels, 1 on each side), he REPUSHES THE LIT BUTTON FOR THE FLOOR I JUST PUSHED AND HAD ASKED HIM ABOUT! WTF!

At this point I actually am starting to doubt my button pushing skills but realize that can’t be it since Princess Leia says I push her buttons all the time (insert snarky/sexual innuendo joke here).  He departs on his floor and I go to mine wondering to myself about what runs through peoples head sometimes.  I’m not even sure you can qualify this as bad manners, rudeness or something else.  How about just something that pissed me off at the time.

Now for my semi-regular YouTube clip.  This week some friends and I started reliving the old days of the Michael Jordan era.  We religiously watched all Bulls games and even made an impromptu trip to Chicago after the 1993 championship for the celebration in Grant Park.  This led me to the clips below of MJ and the rest of the 1992 Dream Team.  Best part of first clip is Sir Charles when asked about Angola.  The second clip is the total dominance of Angola.

Quick Hello

The weekend is over and time to start a new work week, which means I will be 1) continue to show our new printer vendor the location of all our printers at the off-site locations, 2) keep filling in for my supervisor while she enjoys Vegas and, 3) being on call when she gets back.  Lucky me.

Been catching up on one of our new favorite shows all spring to catch up to this seasons premiere, Burn Notice.  It’s a cross between Bourne Identity and Magnum PI.  Plus the little snipets on the website for ‘What if…’ situations is cool.  Check below.

RIP

One of the nicest and most genuine people I have ever met was laid to rest today. Starting in 1978, his daughter and I were classmates in first grade until after our freshman year in high school when my family moved away. Over those early years our parents became friends as well and continued to keep in touch. In fact they stayed in touch and got together even after she and I lost contact. Although he and I never had much individual interaction, her parents were always an important part of my family, whether directly or indirectly.

After talking with my former classmate today at the service and exchanging personal information, at the very least I hope to reestablish contact her her and hopefully keep her and her husband involved in my life.

Rest in peace, Paul Melton.

Needs some help

After last nights Magic win in OT, the Cavs are in trouble.  Down 3 -1 and going back to Cleveland they need to find some way to get someone else other than LeBron James to do ANYTHING!  He’s doing everything possible except bringing the team water and towels to win the game but he is only human.  Well, at least partly human.  He is averaging over 40 points in the 3 losses and played the entire second half including overtime in game 4.  He hit 2 free throws to force overtime and nearly hit a three at the end of OT to win.  If it weren’t for his miraculous game winning 3 in game 2, this series would already be over with an Orlando sweep.  He simply can’t do it alone.  Very reminiscent of the Bulls when Michael Jordan’s supporting cast hadn’t developed and he would lead them into the playoffs, single handidly beating opponents but only to a point.  It wasn’t until Scottie Pippen matured and gained confidence that the Bulls started winning championships.

Was watching the Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts special we had recorded.  Mostly they were duds but the ones that were funny were hilarious.  My favorite one was the short below.

Dick in a Box

Hadn’t laughed so hard since this one.

All Drug Olympics

The Force is strong with this one

LeBron Fucking James!  Rarely does anyone or anything live up to the hype but he has and is surpassing it.  For those old enought to remember, it brought back memories of Michael Jordan’s shot over Craig Ehlo in 1989 but this time in reverse.  Perhaps it will be known as the “Reverse Ehlo“.

The Cavs are not in the clear.  The Magic proved they are able to hang with them and they certainly weren’t intimidated by the crowd or LeBron.  In fact, in the regular season they were 2-1 against the Cavs.  Hopefully this dramatic loss doesn’t shake their confidence to much since it would be great to see this series go 7 games.

As for the Lakers/Nuggets, this series has the potential to be a great one as well.  Kobe and Carmelo are taking turns making shots and both are playing defense, especially when they are matched up against each other.  The Lakers should when since they are more talented but the play and leadership of Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony makes this anyones series.

No matter what happens, the Finals are shaping up to be very entertaining.

Smattering of thoughts

So much going on lately, there hasn’t been much time to sit down and put words on a page.  Here are some random thoughts over the last several days.

NBA Playoffs

Is it just me or has the officiating gotten worse?  Remember when the referee was busted for gambling?  The NBA was quick to act and said they would clean up the officiating, going so far as hiring a former General as the new head of officials.  Just seems like players are getting called for nickle and dimers one minute and the next time someone is committing a felony and they don’t call it.  Plus, they are way to sensitive when it comes to intentional fouls.

Speaking of sensitive… NBA players now are so caught up in being “disrespected” that every perceived slight turns into a possible melee.  Not to sound old fashioned but why don’t guys take the Michael Jordan approach?  MJ was constantly taking criticism, either actual or perceived, and interalizing it.  The next game who would come out and drop 50.  Of course he would be talking trash the whole time but it rarely, if ever, escalated to anything.

Season Finales

24- Great season.  The show needed a strong showing after the previous season and it delivered.  Can’t wait to see what will happen to Jack and the gang in its next and probably final season.

NCIS – Another good season and nice finale.  What will happen to Ziva?

American Idol – At this point I want Kris to win just so he can shove it up the judges collective asses.  Could the judges make it more obvious who they want to win?  Adam can sing and seems like a nice guy but I just don’t like his voice.  If he wins I won’t lose any sleep but would probably buy Kris’s CD before I would Adam’s.

That’s enough for today.

New Star Trek

Saw the new Star Trek movie this weekend.  OUTSTANDING!  JJ Abrams has taken the franchise to a new level.  The way he told the story, the potential for new movies, TV series and story lines are limitless.  This movie is not just a great summer blockbuster but superb movie all the way around.  It couldn’t have been casted any better.  The young actors gave us fresh takes on the old characters and the old cast member who is in it plays a pivotal role (wont spoil it for those who don’t know).  Visually stunning with the CGI and action sequences.  Go see it.  I know I will watch it again.

Padme’s day

Happy Mother’s Day!  Already gave Princess Leia her cards this morning.  Going to brunch with the parental units this morning.  Hope all mothers have a great day.

Few thoughts…

Tough break (no pun intended) for Yao Ming.  In my opinion, he doesn’t get the attention he deserves, in th USA at least.

For those who missed it, here is “The Rock Obama“.

Thanks to my old friend, FatMotti, for this.  I think I had dreams like this but they were throwing little pickles at me.

Winding down

It’s that time of year again when the TV series are building towards the season finales.

American Idol – Rock week

Let me get this out of the way.  I am not an Adam Lambert fan.  The way he sings, the Broadway-over-the-top style and tone just doesn’t do it for me.  That being said, he was the best by a mile.  Probably will win.

24 – This season has been the best one in 2 or 3 years.  Hopefully Jack can hold it together and save the day.  Keifer signed on for one more year so hopefully we see Kim Bauer one more time to save her dad.  And Tony, never thought I would say this but it’s time for you to DIE!

NCIS – One of three people is going to die and I have a feeling it is a major player.

That is all for now.

Rain, rain

It’s a great day to go searching on YouTube. Been raining all day, sometime pretty heavy. Couple more Dinner for Five clips.

Dinner for Five – Kevin Smith, Jon Favreau, Colin Farrell,Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner

Part 1

Part 2

Been watching “Transformers” again.  Entertaining but not a great movie.  As they say, it is what it is.
